General information about our cricketclub:

Mixed Cricket Club „Hengelo”, founded in 1954, has two teams with a mixture of young & not-so-young players who enjoy playing the King of Sports!

The First XI plays in the 2nd division of the Dutch league in 2008. As well as local players, the team has a distinctly international flavour with players from as far afield as India, Australia, Pakistan, West-Indies and England. 

Our youngsters are playing matches against other eastern Dutch clubs.

Mixed Cricket Club „Hengelo” is a friendly club, which is looking for players to strengthen its squad for 2008, so that cricket can continue to develop and prosper as a sport in the region.

Previous experience is advantageous, but not essential. Beginners are more than welcome – coaching is provided!

Our accommodation is located on the "Sportpark Slangenbeek" in Hengelo Overijssel.

Coaching and practice:
The coaching during the cricket-season is done by a professional coach as follows:
- seniors & youngsters on Thursdays from 19.30 - approx. 21.00 hrs.
The training sessions are followed in the pavilion by nice chats and drinks.

In the winter-period (October-November and February-April) we always are organising indoor practices:
A. for everybody: in a gymnastics hall in Hengelo on Thursdays from 18.00 - 19.30 Hrs. See page "Trainingen indoors".
During winter time all persons that are not a member yet and are interested in our club are most welcome in the gymnastics hal at the Wolter ten Catestraat 54a in Hengelo (in the "Prins Bernhard-plantsoen" . B. for members that are experienced players only: in the indoor-cricket practice hal of Kon.UD at Deventer on Thursdays from 21.00 - 23.00 Hrs. This is only in April.

We are asking a membership fee if you like to play with our club.

The annual membership fees are very low, therefore that should not be any obstacle at all.

Location of our accommodation:
Our cricketground is located on Sportpark Slangenbeek at the Torenlaan in Hengelo Overijssel.
We can use the canteen and dressing rooms of the Hockey Club Twente until our own new pavilion and dressing rooms are realised which will be in 2008. Phone number clubhouse hockeyclub: (074) 291 65 19.

Brief route description:
On Motorway A1: exit 30 / HENGELO, take direction BORNE. At 2nd traffic lights right (Europalaan opposite of IKEA). After two roundabouts just prior to a bridge that would lead you over the motorway go left (Beneluxlaan). After 150 m. take first right (Torenlaan; opposite of EATON/Holec buildings). You will find the accommodation at your left hand side after ± 1,5 km. Our ground is on the Sportpark Slangenbeek at the back and left hand corner.
Coming from Centrum Hengelo Ov.: take the Deurningerstraat, continue until you have passed the bridge over the Motorway A1, at roundabout 3/4 left (you see a police station and firebrigade) and enter the Torenlaan. This road is to be followed straight on. Our cricket grounds are located at the right hand side after approx. 1 km.

By train and/or bus: Hengelo, railway station NS, departure 10:02 uur on citybus line 13 Hengelo Noord (30 min. service). After ± 11 minutes exit at Eaton/Holec. You will find the Torenlaan at the right hand side. walking to the ground takes approx. 13 min. You can also take a "Treintaxi" (€ 4,30) at Station Hengelo, phone: 0900 8734682.
